Compressing Your Images

Keeping your image sizes under 250kb is the prime way to keep your Squarespace website speed optimal.

On my Squarespce website builds, I always use ImageCompressor.com — simply upload your image, select 250kb, and download your compressed version.

Keep in mind the quality of your image will be affected, but look at the bigger picture, your audience can deal with slightly lower quality images if you can save them time. Small sized files, and images will massively improve the SEO of your website.

Keeping Video Lengths Short

Another great way to keep your Squarespace website running fast, is keeping images short (under 30 seconds ideally).

Long videos will slow down your Squarespace site, especially when uploaded straight to your website, rather than opting for a link.

Embedding YouTube Videos

The best thing about Squarespace is the ability to simply add a link to a YouTube video rather than uploading an entire video file (which is also possible.

I make use of the video block in every blog post I create.

Simplifying Custom Code Using AI

If you're using custom CSS, ensure to clean up your code using ChatGPT. Simply ask the bot:

“Can you clean up and optimize this?”

Simply copy and paste ChatGPT’s response into your old custom CSS.
